Shop With a Cop

The Shop with a Cop event serves children who would benefit from positive interactions with law enforcement and first responders. Children served by the Betty Chinn Homeless Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Boys and Girls Club are invited to participate every December. Participants enjoy breakfast at the Wharfinger and are paired with volunteers from the Eureka Police Department, Humboldt Bay Fire, and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. They are then transported to Target via an exciting ride in emergency vehicles with the sirens on! Each child is given $100 for a shopping spree assisted by their buddy. Upon returning to the Wharfinger, participants enjoy their toys with their buddy, fostering a positive connection.
